Are veneers permanent?
The decision is. A thin layer of enamel is usually removed so the veneer sits flush, and that enamel doesn’t grow back. A veneer can be replaced, but the tooth will always need some covering.
How many visits do veneers take?
Usually two. At the first, we shape the teeth, take impressions and fit temporaries. At the second, a couple of weeks later, we bond the finished veneers.
Veneers or bonding: which should I choose?
Bonding costs less and is done in one visit, but it chips and stains sooner. Veneers cost more and last longer. See dental bonding and our post on the pros and cons of veneers.
Should I whiten my teeth before getting veneers?
If you plan to whiten, do it first. Veneers are matched to the shade of your other teeth and won’t change color later. See teeth whitening.
